Dear Sacred Heart Community,
As we begin this week, we are reminded of the sacred mission of Catholic education—to form hearts and minds in the love of Christ. At Sacred Heart, our commitment to nurturing faith, learning, and community continues to guide all we do.
This week, I am privileged to be attending the National Catholic Education Commission Conference alongside over 2,000 Catholic principals, educators, parish priests, and leaders from across the country. The theme of the conference centres on the transformative power of Catholic education in today’s world. It is a time of reflection, renewal, and connection—an opportunity to share ideas, deepen our mission, and bring back insights that will enrich our school community. I will return next Monday, 25 August, and look forward to sharing more with you then.
Book Week Celebrations
This week is Book Week, and we are celebrating the joy of reading and storytelling! The highlight is always the Dress-Up Day. It’s always a delight to see the creativity and enthusiasm of our students as they bring beloved stories to life. This year as well, I'm sure the students enjoyed the book surprise the teachers had planned and a visit from a past student and published author, Grace Lustri.
A huge thank you to Mrs Iles for coordinating a fun and engaging week of activities
Community Council Open Meeting
Parents are welcome to join the Community Council for our open meeting at 6pm Thursday in the library. This term we talk about our school initiatives and NAPLAN results.
In faith and partnership,

Emergency Drill
We plan to hold an Emergency Evacuation Drill early next week. This will involve the ‘evacuate now’ sirens going off. Children will be prepared by their class teacher.
The timing of the drill will accommodate school needs and weather conditions on the day. Please see a Compass notification shortly to be aware of school procedures in the case of an actual emergency.
Father’s Day
Families are invited to celebrate Father’s Day with us on Friday 5th September.
8am - breakfast in the hall with yummy egg and bacon rolls, all for a gold coin donation per person eating to cover our costs
8.30 - 9.10am - Open classrooms
9.30am Mass hosted by Year 2
Traditionally the mums are on cooking and cleaning duty that day! Please email the office if you are able to help with setup from 7.30am. We also invite a few helpers to stay back to clean up before mass.
Yours in working together

On Tuesday, Alethea from ACT Playgroups visited Little Hearts and read 2 books, Spiro and One Little Dung Beetle. Both were nominated for the 2025 Childrens Week book of the year awards.
Playgroup children have enjoyed dressing up to celebrate book week, for more book week photos
follow us on @littleheartsplaygroup

Always a fun day when everyone gets to dress up! The teachers kept the students guessing all day for what was happening after recess. The teachers all dressed up in character to perform 'Edward the Emu' for the students.
