PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
We send a message of gratitude to everyone in the SHPS community as we complete our second week of lockdown. We appreciate that working from home and supporting children in their learning can be difficult.
We are currently working with a skeleton staff on site but please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or through email if you have any questions.
Staff are enjoying their connection with their students and look forward to seeing them online. We are really missing you all.
Reminders about Online Times
We do welcome and encourage you to sit with your child while they are online but you need to remember that when your child is online, everyone online with your child can see and hear most of what is going on in the background.
The online learning time for children to be in touch with their teacher is limited so if you have any questions for the teacher please send them an email.
SABBATH
This week we traditionally celebrate SABBATH at SHPS. I just wanted to reflect a little on the meaning and purpose of putting aside a time each term to have the opportunity to experience SABBATH in our very busy lives.
Jesus invites us to live life to the fullest. This call requires a willingness to slow down in order to savour every moment that life gives us.
What can you this week to allow yourself to be intentionally restful or to stop for a short time to do something that brings you joy or peace?
Here are a few suggestions that you could easily do not only this week but set aside a SABBATH moment each day especially during this COVID pandemic.
- Take mini Sabbaths of logging out of social media sites to mute the dozens of notifications that distract you each day
- Taking 30 minutes for a brisk walk
- Rewarding yourself with an energetic conversation with a friend or a fiction audiobook.
What can you let go of, in order to experience the Sabbath in your life?
