Principal's News

Dear Families,

Here we are at the close of another busy and vibrant term, Week 10 of a busy winter stretch! It’s been a term filled with learning, celebration, service and spirit. As the colder weather wraps around us, it’s clear our students and staff alike are ready for a well-earned rest.

A friendly reminder that this Friday, 4 July, is a Pupil Free Day and Term 3 will commence on Tuesday, 22 July. (Please note: Monday, 21 July is also a Pupil Free Day as staff return to prepare for the new term.)

Staff news

For the first three weeks of Term 3, I will be taking leave. During this time, our school will be in very capable hands with our Leadership Team: Mrs Kerry Wode will be stepping in as Acting Principal, Mr Matthew Maloney will serve as Acting Assistant Principal, Mrs Laura Stumbles as Acting Religious Education Coordinator, and Mrs Janica Morella as Acting Coordinator. I’m grateful for their leadership and know the school will continue to flourish with their guidance.

We also wish Mrs Kerry Wode a great few weeks away as she embarks on a pilgrimage to Rome with the Archbishop and many other staff from the Catholic Education Office and other schools. Enjoy the experience, Kerry! Mrs Wode will be back at school for the start of next term.

Uniform Reminders

The holiday break is a perfect time to ensure all school uniform items are in check. It’s no secret that we’ve been battling a few uniform challenges lately. Students are regularly reminded to wear the correct school uniform, and we kindly ask for your support in reinforcing this at home. Adhering to the Catholic Education Uniform Guidelines and our own School Uniform Policy is essential in fostering pride and consistency across our school.

Also, we’d greatly appreciate if you could check your child’s uniforms over the break, making sure items are clearly labelled with their name. We currently have numerous unnamed items in lost property, and on the other hand, families searching for clearly labelled clothing that’s gone missing. A quick check could make a big difference, thank you for your help!

Thank you to the many families who each day ensure your child is wearing the correct uniform. We are noticing a huge improvement overall. The donations to our second-hand clothing pool have been gratefully accepted. The turn over to other families has been quick. Please remember to put names on all items.

We appreciate the work of Kat and Katie, our super volunteers, for helping to keep our lost property cupboard organised.

Parent Teacher Interviews

A big thank you to all the families who joined us for parent–teacher interviews this week. Your ongoing commitment to your child’s learning and wellbeing plays such a vital role in our school community. We’d also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated staff, who have invested significant time preparing for these important conversations, and who have stayed back during the final week of term to ensure meaningful connections with families. Thank you.

Sacred Heart Feast Day

What a joyous and meaningful day we shared last week as we celebrated our Feast Day! From our reverent Mass to the joyful disco and everything in between, the day was a wonderful reflection of our school’s greeting - nurturing hearts, minds, and spirits. Through prayer and reflection, we nurtured our spirits; through learning about and supporting others in need, we nurtured our minds; and through hands-on acts of service and joyful community moments, we nurtured our hearts. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Laura Stumbles for coordinating the day and to the many parents who generously gave their time to help, your support made this celebration not only possible but truly special.

As we approach the end of Term 2, I want to extend my sincere thanks to our incredible parent community for your support, encouragement, and contributions. Whether it’s helping in classrooms, lending a hand baking cookies, or simply cheering us on, your involvement makes such a positive impact on school life.

And finally, to our tired staff, thank you. The commitment, care, and effort you show every single day, especially during busy periods of assessment and reporting, do not go unnoticed. Sacred Heart is lucky to have such dedicated professionals leading our children’s learning and wellbeing.

Wishing you all a peaceful, joyful holiday break. Rest well, stay warm, and I’ll see you all in Week 4.

In faith and partnership,
