Principal's News
Dear Families,
As we approach the end of Term 1, I want to express my gratitude for your support and involvement throughout this term. This is a quick reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, 10 April, is the last day of school, and Friday, 11 April, is a Pupil-Free Day.
Holy Week
This Sunday marks Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week in the Church, a deeply significant time as we reflect on the final days of Jesus’ life. Last Friday, our Kindergarten students delighted us all with their reenactment of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, riding a donkey. The Kinder students were fantastic, and their heartfelt performance brought the story to life beautifully. Well done to them!
We will continue to honour Holy Week with our liturgies tomorrow. Year 4 will present a reenactment of Holy Thursday at 12:45pm in the school hall. Later tomorrow, Year 5 and Year 6 will lead the Good Friday and Easter liturgy at 2:00pm in the Church. These prayerful and meaningful occasions allow us to unite as a community in reflection and faith. All are most welcome to attend. As we head into Easter, I hope you have a blessed and joyful time celebrating with your families. I encourage you to attend the many special events next week in the parish. Easter, to us, is more than chocolate and bunnies!
First Holy Communion
This weekend, many of our Year 4 students will receive their First Holy Communion—a special milestone in their faith journey. We wish these students all the best as they take this important step in welcoming Jesus into their hearts in a new and profound way. Let us pray for them and their families during this significant time, as they come together to celebrate and grow in their faith. Congratulations!
Compliance Review
Today, we were privileged to welcome representatives from Catholic Education for our 5-yearly Compliance Review. This thorough review ensures our school meets the requirements of the ACT Education Act, covering policies, teaching, learning documents, and programs. I’m proud to share that the day has been a great success, and we continue to deliver high-quality education for our students.
One notable achievement I’d like to celebrate is our current attendance rate. Of all ACT Catholic Primary Schools, we have achieved the highest attendance rate this year, over 95%! This statistic highlights the importance of regular attendance for students’ learning and development, and we’re thrilled to see such dedication from our families.
Canteen Menu
As mentioned last week, after a thorough review, we will conclude our partnership with The Merchant’s Feast at the end of this term and return to in-house operations led by Tracey Kane. Tracey will manage the canteen on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The new menu was published on Compass, and ordering will occur via QKr!.
Term 2
As we prepare for Term 2, this is a quick reminder that school resumes for all students on Tuesday, 29 April (Monday, 28 April, is a pupil-free day). We’ll begin the term with a special ANZAC Day Service on Tuesday, 29 April, at 10:45am near the Church. All families are most welcome to join us for this important commemoration.
Thank you for a fantastic Term 1. I hope you all enjoy the upcoming holiday break, rest, recharge, and savour time with loved ones. I wish you a blessed Easter filled with joy and peace.
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
